The Oakridge Community Centre is currently taking applications for an Arena/Facility Operator looking to join our team. This position is open to the experienced as well as entry level operator.
Oakridge is a busy community centre with halls, childcare facilities, tennis and Pickleball facilities, as well as the arena.
This is a part-time position with a minimum of 24 hours per week (evenings and weekends). This job posting is open to the experienced as well as entry level Operators. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of arena and facility operations. As part of a team, the candidate will ensure assigned duties and customer service will be attended to in an efficient manner. In this team environment the candidate will promote positive relations with staff and customers alike. Additionally, the Operator will play a lead role in emergency situations, as the first point of contact with the public and emergency responders. Accountable for cleanliness of glass partitions, washrooms, dressing rooms, official’s rooms, player boxes, penalty boxes and public areas within the facility. Regular ice making with an Olympia ice resurfacer and maintaining written logs on a per-shift basis is required.
Some experience working in an ice hockey environment, and a current Standard First Aid Level C CPR and AED certification are required (provide copy with application). A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required. AARFP Arena Operator certification (level 1 and/or 2) would be an asset (provide copy with application). Working knowledge of ice making equipment and a keen awareness of workplace safety is necessary as well as the ability to communicate effectively and offer excellent customer service to visitors and staff. The successful candidate will enjoy being part of a team striving to excel in their delivery of exceptional facilities and service to our clientele.
This is an evening and weekend position, some shifts involving late nights. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and will regularly be required to lift, bend and kneel. Operators will work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions. Successful candidates for this position will be required to provide an acceptable drivers abstract. Interviewing and hiring may commence prior to the posted closing date. The successful applicant will be required to complete a current, Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector, upon hire.
