Under the guidance of the HEAD ATHLETICS THERAPIST perform Head Athletic Therapist duties for the TROJANS ATHLETICS
Consults with– Athletics Manager, Head Coach, Head Athletics Therapist, Student Therapist.
Assist in the overall sports medicine program for the Trojans, including: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs and counseling for student-athletes.
Provide athletic training services for the Trojans athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary.
Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
Work to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
Assist in the Schedule coverage of all team practices and athletic competitions.
Assist Head Therapist in the development of the annual program budget.
Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports programs.
Maintain accurate records and necessary documentation for the Department.
Completes any pertinent paperwork required to record major injuries requiring activation of EMS for care of injured student athletes.
Completes daily injury notes for all student athletes seen in the clinic.
Provides statistical reports reflecting injury rates, epidemiology, clinical revenue etc, to the Manager of Athletics.
Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field
Diploma/Degree/Masters in the field of Athletic Therapy from an accredited institution
Member in good standing in the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association Minimum First Responder certified
Experience in a CCAA/ USports institution as an Athletic/Student
Experience with contact sports (hockey, rugby, soccer) is an asset
Experience mentoring/teaching is an asset
