Soccer Without Boundaries
In 2010, a Saturday soccer club in Calgary was formed as a way for immigrant and low-income children to get involved with their community. The program was successful, welcoming kids of every age, skill level, culture and economic background and included refugees from countries as far as Rwanda and Syria. This volunteer group has since evolved into Soccer Without Boundaries, an innovative multicultural outreach program aimed at integrating new Canadians into their community. This program gives children a sense of belonging , allowing them to build self-esteem, develop leadership skills and strengthen social relationships through teamwork, fair play, and conflict resolution.
