Perry Cavanagh (Chair)
Perry Cavanagh recently retired from a 30 -year career in the electrical engineering services industry. He is currently the Past President one of Canada’s largest minor hockey associations and proudly sits on the Hockey Alberta Operations Council (at the provincial level) as one of two Zone representatives. In 2007, Perry took on the role of Executive Director of the Don Hartman NE Sportsplex Society which is a provincially registered society as well as a federally registered charitable organization.
In the Community, he has earned respect as a leader and a dedicated volunteer who often focuses his efforts on the needs of others, before his own. For example, Perry has spent many volunteer hours collaborating with multiple stakeholders (including sport organizations and municipal, provincial and federal government departments) focused on advancing multidiscipline sport and recreation opportunities here in the City of Calgary.
Perry Cavanagh was born on August 19, 1959, in Hawkesbury, Ontario. He moved to Alberta in 1978 to work in the electrical industry and went on to earn his designation as a Registered Electrical Engineering Technologist. He and his wife Cathy have been married for 33 years and have four children, Stephen, Adam (deceased), Shawn and Mathew.
Perry was elected in 2013 and is completing his second, three-year term as a Director of Sport Calgary. Perry is currently serving as the President.
