Roughnecks Advance Past Mammoth For Spot in the NLL Finals
The Roughnecks defeated the Colorado Mammoth 8-4 Friday night in the West Division final, earning their spot in the NLL Finals, much to the delight of the 8,900 fans in attendance at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
“It’s amazing. It’s so tight in that locker room right now and everybody’s really buying into what coach is saying,” said Roughnecks forward Jesse King. “We’re just excited to play together another week. We get at least two weeks back together now, which coach is just preaching you play for that extra week, you play for the guy beside you, and I think we’re going to continue to do that moving into the finals.”
The first two quarters were a gritty defensive battle, with the first goal not coming until the 5:47 mark of the second quarter when Tyler Pace fired home a power-play marker. Curtis Dickson would put the Roughnecks ahead 2-0 heading into the break with his first of the night with nine seconds remaining in the quarter.
