Daniel Nestor Set as Honourary Tournament Director for Upcoming Calgary National Bank Challenger

CALGARY – Daniel Nestor, a Canadian athlete who has changed the face of tennis in Canada, will act as the Honourary Tournament Director at Calgary National Bank Challenger from Oct. 13- 21, 2018. This international tennis tournament will be hosted by OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre.

“We are very fortunate to have Daniel Nestor involved in our inaugural event. Daniel has quietly influenced the game of game of tennis in Canada for nearly 30 years and having him involved in this year’s event will help grow the game of tennis in province and provide a unique opportunity for our fans to say thank you to Daniel for the many years of service to Canadian tennis.”, said Danny Da Costa, Tournament Director Calgary National Bank Challenger.

As an Olympic gold medalist, with 12 Grand-Slam winner titles and 91 doubles titles, plus winning over 1000 matches in his career, Nestor is a fixture in Canadian sport. After 27 years as an ATP World Tour player, Nestor retired at the 2018 Rogers Cup. His outstanding career achievements will be honoured at the tournament on Friday, Oct. 19.

Nestor’s involvement in Calgary National Bank Challenger will also include a doubles clinic, a kid’s clinic, participation in the National Bank Pro-Am Tennis event and SportsNet 960 Kidsport Day.
