2019 YONEX Canada Open Super 100, presented by Sun Life at WinSport July 2-7

June 27, 2019 - The 2019 YONEX Canada Open Super 100, presented by Sun Life is the largest badminton event in Canada, offering a prize purse of $75,000 USD. This year, the Badminton World Federation Super 100 event returns to Calgary at WinSport’s Markin Macphail Centre from July 2-7, 2019 with competitors from 34 nations. Five former world #1 ranked players are among the 260 entered.

“Tourism Calgary is proud to support Canada’s premier badminton event for the fifth year in a row. Not only does this event attract athletes from around the world, it enhances Calgary’s vibrancy, generates over $1.1 million in economic impact, supports hosting infrastructure and elevates Calgary’s reputation as the Ultimate Host City,” says Carson Ackroyd, Senior Vice President of Sales, Tourism Calgary.

Badminton is the second highest participation sport in the world with an estimated 220 million regular players. The sport’s growth in Canada is evidenced by Michelle Li, ranked No. 15 in the world, and Brian Yang, the youngest Canadian men’s national champion of all time – both of whom will be competing in this year’s event.
