Cavalry defeat Whitecaps to advance to CanChamp Semi-Finals

Cavalry FC completed an unforgettable upset over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night at BC Place, taking the 2nd leg – and their Canadian Championship Qualifying Round 3 tie – by a 2-1 scoreline to become the first CPL team to beat an MLS side en route to a date with Montreal Impact in the tournament’s Semi-Final round.

Despite playing out to a 0-0 draw at Spruce Meadows in the first leg, it didn’t take long for the CPL’s Spring champions to silence the crowd in Vancouver when, in the eighth minute, a lofted pass from Nik Ledgerwood found Jordan Brown, who thumped home the first goal of the tie.
