Alberta enters Stage 1 reopening

Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan safely eases restrictions in 3 stages as vaccinations go up and hospitalizations go down. If Albertans continue doing their part to follow public health measures and get vaccinated, all restrictions could be lifted by early July.

Alberta entered Stage 1 on June 1. The following restriction changes are now in effect provincewide:

  • Outdoor social gatherings – 10 people max, no more than 2 household cohorts is encouraged (indoor gatherings still not permitted)

  • Outdoor fitness, performance and recreation activities – up to 10 people with 2 metres distancing at all times (indoor activities still not permitted)

  • Personal and wellness services – can re-open by appointment only

  • Restaurants – outdoor patio dining for up to 4 household members per table, or 3 people if diners who live alone are with their 2 close contacts

  • Retail – 15% of fire code occupancy

  • Funeral services – up to 20 people (receptions still not permitted)

  • Wedding ceremonies – up to 10 people (receptions still not permitted)

  • All other restrictions remain in effect, including distancing and masking requirements.

Alberta has met the targets to enter Stage 2 on June 10, which will see further easing of provincewide restrictions. More info will be shared next week.
